Explore the historic charm of downtown Colorado Springs with a rooftop view

This session is one of my favorites, and these two made it even more incredible! One afternoon, Amy had mentioned to me that she was looking for a photographer that could take some photos for an album they were making and if I would be interested. We met for coffee where Amy shared that her, and her partner Caleb, were getting ready to adopt and grow their family. Pulling every heart string possible, I knew I couldn't say no! We talked about their vision for the shoot, Amy wanted to capture their fun and charismatic side but also wanted to show the loving home and space they have built together.

This was a really fun afternoon filled with getting to know Amy & Caleb, their two dogs and cat in their home, and then meeting up downtown for a homage to their favorite city. These two have grown roots in Colorado Springs and are looking forward to what their lives as parents will look like. Amy is the CEO and Lead Coordinator for Flourish Event Co. serving couples on their wedding day with the fullest heart. Caleb works in health care where his passion for serving others thrives. These two are a dynamic duo that love each other in a way that is so whole-hearted and blissful, it was easy to photograph them exploring downtown. This session was special because Amy and Caleb are using the photos from this session in their adoption book. The book is sent to families that are looking for parents that are ready to adopt. This a huge step for these two; an exciting journey that will make their dreams of becoming parents come true!

Where's a good place to take photos at downtown?

The part of the session where we were downtown is located at a public parking garage, putting us pretty close to the restaurants and local businesses of downtown. There's a few places that can make for some scenic snapshots of your adventures in downtown:

  • Tejon Street - The south end features a collection of restaurants and craft breweries, and can add an urban feel to your photos.
  • Garden of the Gods Park _ Grab a cup of coffee on your way from downtown to enjoy a stroll (or drive) through the iconic park.
  • Old North End - The historic homes look beautiful in the fall season when the colors are changing, but the antique charm is one of a kind.
